Finding the Best Exfoliant For Your Sensitive Skin

Facial scrubs are the best items for exfoliating the face. Exfoliating involves the removal of all the dead skin cells from the outermost surface of your skin. Exfoliating is usually done during chemical or mechanical peels, or both. Chemical peels involve the application of a concentrated solution of acid to the face. Mechanical exfoliating entails the use of exfoliating toothbrushes and other mechanical tools like loofahs, scrubs, etc. Chemical exfoliating tends to be more effective than mechanical exfoliating.

When looking for an exfoliant to use one should be able to determine its suitability according to the type of skin and the needs of the face. There are several types of exfoliant available in the market today, and one should be able to identify one according to its suitability. A sensitive skin should not use one that contains salicylic acid, for example, when looking for a good exfoliator one should read the list of ingredients and look up their safety concerns. There are numerous types of exfoliants, some of which are used for facial scrubs. One should know that exfoliant suits them best, according to their skin type, before they purchase one.

Dr. Schultz says: “I don’t recommend lactic acid because it causes redness and irritation. I do recommend Epson salt because it is gentle and it does not contain salicylic acid. It contains glycolic acid and potassium sorbate which help exfoliate without causing irritation.” According to him lactic acid and glycolic acid cause redness and irritation, and potassium sorbate is used only for mild exfoliating.

However, he says there are a few exceptions when it comes to exfoliating products. When treating acne, for example, the dermatologist may prescribe retinoids, which are topical products, to treat mild acne and control cystic acne. Retinoids may also be used after microdermabration to treat scarring. According to him, products containing lactic acid should be avoided, for example, because the acid can cause redness, irritation and itching. According to him, all types of exfoliating products should be used with caution because excessive scrubbing may irritate the skin. He also says that women suffering from acne should use one without benzoyl peroxide because benzoyl peroxide causes dryness, which promotes the growth of bacteria.

For people with combination skin (also known as having normal skin with some oily areas), Dr. Schultz recommends using a mild chemical exfoliator. It is important to realize that there are many types of exfoliators available in the market today. Some of them are suitable for oily skin, while others are best for dry or combination skin. There are even some scrubbing products that are suitable for oily complexioned skin, but they also have cleaning characteristics that are best for dry skin. Dr. Schultz suggests the use of micro-beads, because these products do not contain lactic acid, which is a drying agent.

According to him, the best type of exfoliant is the one that contains the active ingredient alpha hydroxy acid. In addition, he recommends the use of other scrubs that are specially designed to remove dead skin cells. He notes that there are two types of scrubs: those containing salicylic acid and those containing beta hydroxy acid. The best exfoliators that contain alpha hydroxy acid are those produced by New Zealand company “Sunkist”. According to him, the most effective scrub containing alpha hydroxy acid is “Sunkist Fresh Clean”.

To be able to determine which of the exfoliators on the market are best suited for your type of skin, you should first know what type of skin you have. When it comes to the best type of exfoliator for your sensitive skin, the answer is simple. You should choose scrubs that are suitable for your skin type. If you have extremely sensitive skin, you should go for products with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). However, if you do not suffer from very sensitive skin, then you can use scrubs containing natural fruit enzymes (phenol-based scrubs).

Apart from the fact that AHAs are more effective than regular chemical exfoliators, they are also safe. Most of the chemical-based body scrubs contain acids that can cause skin irritation and other problems. The other scrubs on the market contain ingredients that may prove to be harmful if used regularly. Apart from that, most chemical-based products require you to use large quantities of water to be able to get rid of all the dead cells that have accumulated in your skin. It would be much better for you to use one scrub at a time so that your facial tissue is not exposed to too much dirt and bacteria.
